I know that we really enjoy reading your blog and I’m sure that others do too, so don’t think no one is reading it even if the don’t comment because they are. It is kind of hard to figure out how to comment on here. We have had a busy last couple of weeks and I have been pretty worthless with the pneumonia. It is getting better, but not gone completely. It is hanging on like a bulldog.
We had a lot of fun with Em and Trev, they just left yesterday, and Sean and Rachel were here until Sunday. It was a lot of fun, not to make you homesick or anything. Liam’s 3rd birthday was on Saturday and he had a blast with all the cousins. He had a BSU Bronco Cake. There was a theme of weapons with the presents for some reason, so he now has a full arsenal including a double barrel shotgun that shoots darts from Sean, a cap gun, bow and arrow, and a pirate knife. They had a club party in Danny’s room and I went in there and he was having his first slow dance with a girl (Whitney I think) so it was a big day for him. Danny took video on her phone, so I need to get it from her, it was so cute.
I have to get packed today because we are leaving for AZ tomorrow early. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving. We will try to call from the Deatons as they have SKYPE now.

  2. Bethany Andrews says:

    Dear Grandpa and Grandma,
How are you doing on your mission? Happy Thanksgiving! Hope all is well. We had a nice thanksgiving. I helped my mom make pies. Autumn cooked the turkey. It was yummy! Guess what? We have a new puppy named Brutus. He is a miniature Dachsund. Sorry we missed your phone call. We love and miss you lots.

    Love ,
    Bethany

Hi grandma, how are you doing. I am doing good in school I got an a teenbis award. I whis I could come and visit you . love, autumn

  4. Colette Hudgins says:

Hi there! Just wanted to let you know we finally had our baby! We have a girl! She was born today, December 13th at 1:27 pm after much labor! She kept her little fist up by her face most of the time, hence not budging much! Cathy said it almost felt like I had a lip on my cervix, though everything was so soft it didn’t make much sense! Anyway, Cathy helped hold that “lip” while I pushed past it, then finally my water broke at 1:26, and she came at 1:27. She was 10 lbs 2 oz after having nursed for almost an hour, 21 inches long, 14 inch head, and 15 inch chest. She is beautiful! We will post pictures on facebook soon! We love you! It is wonderful to read about all your adventures! Now I just have a baptism to hold this Saturday! Rhiannon will be baptized at 5 pm. Mom and dad will be here, as well as Ben’s parents and his sister. Love, Colette

I finally had Tina get ahold of Tiffani so I could find your blog then I’ve been enjoying it to much by the time I get done reading I haven’t time to write! I have to get to work. We’ve changed our email at home to wireless and haven’t quite got it figured out yet. Nick will be up at Christmas and check thinks out and get us so we know what we are doing. Winter has finally arrived here. Your not missing anything just making me envious. I can really tell they certainly knew where you two needed to be. Will try to write more later.
    Love you,
    Nina K.

  6. Nyle and Sandi says:

We just read your last entries. Sandi thinks all you are doing is having parties and eating, Ha Ha. Well you are great ones for making people feel good and always giving of yourselves so much. Had 12 inches of snow then a few days of rain, so almost gone. All is well here. May go to Phoenix in January to visit with Nyla and watch LaReen r un a half marathon. Think of you each day and pray for your success. Love Nyle and Sandi

  7. Merlin and Raquel says:

    Happy New Year!
We are enjoying your Blog site. It’s like living our mission over again. I was dreaming last night about going along the avenue of the Ramblas. What a pretty drive. I can picture you walking along with members and enjoying the excitement of the occasion.
As a matter of concern, I don’t know if you are reading your regular Emails, but this is to inform you that your mailbox is full and my Emails to you are not going through. I’m glad that I can use this blog site to reach you, but it limits what I can send. Maybe thats good, eh!
Any way you might use a thumbdrive to save what you want off of your regular Email and then dump the rest in the trash. Keep up the good work and enjoy, don’t feel guilty, you may never have another chance to pass that way again. We send our love to you and to all the members there. Raquel and Merlin

  8. Merlin, thanks for writiing. Your letter came through just fine. I’m not sure why the other e-mail shows full because we deleted most everything in it! the only thing that may have done it was that I had a mission folder storing emials with information for the ysa program. Now that I have saved them to a different file not an e-mail file, it seems to be better. But Paul says that this email address with the blog site has tons of storage, so don’t be afraid to use that. For some reason the things from Fred Olsen will never download for us, and are just advertizements so don’t bother to send them. do you remember how much it cost you to ride Fred Olsen’s boat? We are going over to Gran Canaria this Friday Am. to spend 4 days with the Parkers at the Old Mission home where you used to live, and to do some site seeing. They are the CES couple for the Islands, and we are going to be opening an outreach center here, so we are going to spend some time visiting with them and learning the ropes,- although it sounds like we have a lot more activity going here than they do there. They sound a little discouraged at present. Maybe we are going over to encourage them. She says that they only have 1 or 2 that come out to home evenings etc, where we average at least 10 plus the missionaries. But we are looking forward to the trip. We visited in La Laguna last week on Sunday, so we weren’t at our ward. Everyone called to see if we were o.K.- so I guess they missed us! La Laguna had a very spiritual testimony meeting, I wanted to bear mine but there was never a break for a second. So that is great. Things are going well It seems that a lot of the discord is beginning to smooth out. But tonight at a bar-be-que we heard about how the spaniards that are no longer in positions of leadership complain that the South Americans are running the branch, and Some of the South Americans say the same thing about the Spaniards. We just assure them that this is the gospel of Jesus Christ, it has nothing to do with your nationality. The first couselor in our branch is south american. So it really is a nice mix of both. Those that are fuerte, are very fuerte, and those who are looking for an excuse,to be inactive can find something to gripe about if they look hard enough. But all and all the gospel is strong and the people are happy and growing. We send our love. Ron and Nancy

  9. Hi Nyle and Sandy, We appreciate you writing. Sorry to be so slow to answer. You are right, it does seem at times that all we do is feed people, play and have parties, and activities! It’s a shame , Huh? You could enjoy this type of mission,Sandy, right?
But all kidding aside, we do do a lot of those things because the general authorities in ou Area have requested us to have an outreach center for the young single adults to (1) help them strenthen their testimonies through institute, home evenings etc, (2) help them stay active in the church through a support system and good wholesome activities, (3)encourage missionary work, and provide a place where the lessons can be taught to single young adults, and where they can come for fellowshipping. And where the YSA’s can assist in the missionary discussions. (4) To encourage friendship and eventually Temple marriages among the group.
Many days we feel like we are spinning our wheels, but most of the time we are pretty busy, and are trying to do our best. Ron says I have to quit having a guilt trip about all of the work we can’t get done, and just do our best and enjoy the experience! I worry about every sweet person that passes by on the street, and if we should have tried to tell them about the gospel. It’s hard to do even when you are full time missionaries. Most of the time the best referral are those of the friends and families of the member. How is you son enjoying being home, Sandy? How did he like Idaho? Write when you can. We love you tons. Were you ever able to access our pictures etc? Just type in andrewsmission.com in the address window. It works best under msn, but not the search window. Love ya lots
    Happy New year!

  10. Joseph Shull says:

    Dear Andrews,

We are enjoying your website. We want to send you two things. An e-mail copy of our Christmas letter, but we need a regular e-mail address so we can send it as an attachment. The kids in Seminary wrote you a group letter, and we want to send it to you hard copy, so we need a mailing address. Our e-mail is jsshull@gmail.com. Thanks, Love
    Joe and Sandy Shull

  11. Pete Black says:

Hi. I’m not good at this blog thing but hope I am doing it right.
Thanks for have a site where we can get updates on what you are doing. It appears that your being there is going to help a lot, not only with the members and investigators but with Branch leadership understanding.
Believe it or not, I have been assigned to be your home teacher so hopefully I will get at least a short message to you each month. Things are going good here. Kevin and Cathy Searle have bought 3 acres of our land so we hope to see them as new neighbors when they get their house built. Last I heard they are planning to have your son help with the building.
The longer you are on your mission, the busier you will be so keep up the good work.
    Love, Pete

  12. Emily Jones says:

We just said our goodbyes to my other parents today. It’s official, we’re orphans. I’m a baby and miss you guys lots. We talked to Rachel and she wants to go on our trip to see Cheri too so this should be a fun trip for the girls. We are hoping Tif will be able to find somebody to do her daycare so she can come too. I rode up with Trevor’s aunt this morning for class but she doesn’t leave to go back until 6 so I’ve had a long school day but I’m a week or two ahead now so that’s good. Did you get the pictures?
We had Brynnlee’s apointment the other day and she’s doing pretty well. She’s started saying a little bit. It sounds like she is saying “Mo” for more when she wants something and she now can say “Off” when she wants her coat off. Oh yeah, she said “eye” the other day and pointed to her eye. The doc said if she doesn’t pick it up in the next few months to call him so we can see about a speech therapist. I hope she figures it out. Well we love you and can see all the good you’re doing from your postings.
    Lots of love,
    Emily, Trevor, and Brynnlee Jones

  13. Lucy Brubaker says:

Hi, Ron and Nancy! It’s so interesting to hear bits and pieces about your mission from our common family link, the KIDS! This new scype program is amazing! Since I’m one of the “oldies” who grew up before computers, it’s hard to believe you can actually see and visit with each other half-way across the world like that. But it is wonderful to know the gospel is being taught “to every nation, kindred, tongue and people.”

Keep up the Lord’s work! Love, Lucy

  14. Nina K. Laird says:

We just got back from enjoying a few days at the condo. The best part was being able to go into the Spokane temple a couple of days. Saturday Jan 30th the name I took thru was one of the family names of a lady from Kooskia Idaho. Not only that her name was Nina Tanner! So needless to say you have been on my mind and couldn’t wait to get back to a computor to tell you about it. Do you know her? Now it’s back to work. Sure glad you take after Mom and keep us informed.
    Love Nina K.

  15. Hi Nina! I don’t know Nina Tanner well, but there are some friends of ours in the other ward that her maiden name is Tanner. Nina may be her sister who moved here recently. I’ll bet you enjoyed going to the temple. We should be getting ready to go this month. Our branch adults are going to Madrid Spain for a week at the temple about the 23rd I think. W just couldn’t quite see our way clear to spend that much right now as we have had a number of other expenses lately, and it takes us away from our responsibilities at our center for young adults again. We have had a lot of conferences and meetings lately. But we will go the next time. The residents are able to fly very cheaply, where it cost us a lot more. They go for a week and stay at the hostel on the temple grounds and do sessions all day long for a week. When our mutual age kids went and spent a week they did over 4,000 baptizms the first day, we found out. It was a record. We had a flood here on monday. It was rather exciting to watch from above, as the streets turned to rivers! No one was hurt, but there were areas of the city where streets caved in and store fronts broke and filled up with mud and rocks! It rained over 12 inches in one day. Everything here slopes towards the sea, so the streets filled with water rapidly. We didn’t know anything was going to happen until the Elders called and said that we were all to stay in off the streets.
Well I guess I should be writing all of this on the blog site too. So forgive me if a repeat myself. Cheri’s baby is due so I need to call her. Rickie has been a lot of help to her. She has been having some problems with this pregnancy. The girls are going to go up and see if they can help her for a couple weeks. Well we send our love. Ron and Nancy

  16. Greg and Michelle Nelson says:

Hi, Ron and Nancy, I have been searching for Ron’s webpage for weeks finally asking Sean and he mentioned to look under Nancy and here you are. Greg and I have been wondering how you are doing and all we have to do is read it here and we can get a good idea of your activities. We are thinking about and praying for you often. Greg and I send our love to you both. Your Ward has a new Bishopric in case you haven’t heard. All is well with us, Greg’s busy repairing cars as he was when you left only now with the dealership up and running he is on the auction site regularly and his finger is hitting that mouse button more often than ever. See you when you get back. Love, Greg and Michelle

  17. Nyle and Sandi says:

Hi Ron and Nancy , this is the fourth attempt tosend E mail. We enjoy reading your missionary journal. Looks like you are doing a great work The area looks beautiful and what nice scenery. Congrats on the new grandson. You are way ahead of us now. We just finished redoing the basement of our house. Looks pretty good. Hope to sell this yr. We plan on moving to the Cottonwood area in Az if it sells. Would be closer to some of our kids and the weather wouldn,t be too bad either. Sandi has a new baby (dog ) tea cup pomeranian. She is cute, named Bella , all black. No winter this yr. Only snow for a few days. Love you both, Nyle and Sandi

  18. Dave and Lynn Montgomery says:

    Hi Ron and Nancy,
Talofa from one island across the seas and continent to the other. It is fun to read your blog to see how you are doing. Looks like you have both the modern and primitive around you. Looks like you have some of the same plants we do here, except for the cacti. None here, just little plants with thorns on them. Lots of vines and elephant grass here along with all the pretty plants and flowers. I think we will miss the vivid colored plants and flowers when we go. We may get Orchids with some other flowers one Sunday in church and then another Sunday may be Gardinias, etc.
We are teaching four University courses at the moment and will finish up the week we go home which is the 19th of April. Boy! Time just flies by, it seems we just got here. We assume you know who the new Bishopric is. Dee-Bishop, Joe Shull and Ted Weeks counselors. I don’t know any of the new Stake Presidency. Maybe they will let me teach primary again (this is Dave).

We may be able to get another day in or two at the beach to snorkel, etc. Winds have been pretty rough here too. Fortunately no more tsunami or earthquakes though.

We are sure you are enjoying the work and hope you are feeling useful, etc.
    Dave and Lynn

  19. Nyle and Sandi says:

    Dear Nancy and Ron,
Just read your last blog. Sound like the mission is going well, brought back memories from long ago. Spring is here finally here. It was a mild winter but the warm weather seems
slow in coming. W e are trying to sell the property, but with the economy I don,t know what
will happen. Sandi,s son Peter is home, but is struggling to find work. W e let him use the
Subaru and it is still doing well. One good turn deserves another huh? Sandi got a new puppy, a toy pomeranian , She is so cute
and I must admit she makes life a bit more interesting. Don,t plan much of a garden this yr. as we have faith we will get the place sold. W e pray for your continued success and
    protection on your mission.

  20. Nyle and Sandi says:

Our love to you. Nyle and Sandi

  21. Wanda Nevel says:

    Hi, you two,
I have been checking your blog off and on and have really enjoyed it. The photos are wonderful! It looks like you are doing a great job and really enjoying yourselves and meeting so many nice and interesting people. Keep up the good job! Ken and I are fine and hopefully winter is almost over. It was even in the 70′s the other day…..flowers coming up (but not as beautiful as the flowers there), but still a sure sign of spring and summer coming. One note of sadness for us is that Ginger passed in January. It has been really hard for both of us. Well, you two take care and we really miss you but what you are doing is really important. Love you both. Stay safe.

  24. DeVere Burton says:

Greetings from Moscow, Russia. We finally have some warm spring days here after a dark and icy winter. It is so nice. It appears that you spend a lot more time with church members than we do. Most of our work is done in an office with a regular 8-5 schedule, but we also have things we do with the branch. The first several months we were filling in for missionaries who had gone home, and it kept us going 3-4 nights each week until after 10:00 pm.

We have travelled more than many missionaries, with area and passport duties in Latvia, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Armenia, and Turkey. We have also travelled to a number of cities in Russia to work with new senior couples. We are most blessed to be here, and we know from your blog that you are having a similar experience. The members here are as faithful as those anywhere in the church. Our time is rapidly slipping away, and we have just 5 months left. We will really have to keep a steady pace to complete all we have to do before October.

We wish you the best as we serve our Heavenly Father in places we did not expect to ever see. Sweet is the Work, DeVere & Arva Burton

  25. Jared says:

Happy late Mothers Day. We wanted to talk to you yesterday but we had a computer virus that infected Skype and our internet access. Paul helped us get it straightened out. We love you and miss you very much. I am so proud of the work you are doing for the Lord. I can tell that you are doing a great job and this mission was truly inspired for your talents. You are a great example to me and my family. I am amazed with how beautiful the island is. You have taken some really stiunning photos. I am most impressed with the Oxen and Plow. You should submit that to some photo comptetion or have it painted. The photo of the ocean at midnight from your balcony with the contrast of the city lights is also very cool. Have you been painting any more? Dad should try sketching. He was always reallly good at sketching animals. I remember he sketched a horse really easily from memory one time. It probably doesn’t feel like you have time to do anything with all the church work you are doing. Take care of yourselves. I love you, Jared.

  26. Nyle and Sandi says:

Nancy and Ron Read of your wonderful adventure and missadventures. I,m sure to say you were a bit stressed is an understatement. Our weather here is finally warming up. Had frost into may so no garden planting yet. We have a couple looking at the property tomorrow so don,t know what will happen. Got our fingers crossed. Could you please call us Nancy?

We would like to talk with you. Love watching your mission progress.

    Love Sandi, and Nyle

  27. Merlin and Raquel says:

    Hi from Orofino,

We love to read all about what is happening on the great island of Tenerife. We often feel like bugs on the wall living your experiences and visiting the same places that we love. Who knows if we will ever get a chance to go back, but just being with you vicarously is almost like being there.

You will be having a new president soon I understand, We hope to be able to visit with Pres. and Sister Mellor when they get home. As always please give our love and best wishes to the members there in the islands. Love Raquel and Merlin

  28. Nyle, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!
The years go by awfully fast don’t they? But you are’nt getting older, just Happier, Wiser, and Better right? We are so glad that you two have each other. It makes life so much better to have a sweetheart to share the ups and downs! We tried to call you for your birthday but didn’t succeed very well. We enjoyed our visit with Sandy, and then tried to call back multiple times, but it said the line was busy everytime. Surprise, Surprise! On your Birthday of all times! That’s what you get for having so much wonderful family and friends who love you! I got up early to try to call you before you went to bed but the line won’t connect this morning at all. More calls from the family , probably. Thats the way it should be. Just know that we love and are thinking of you,- your probably playing a hot game of Nada or something. We love you both so much and will miss you terrible if you move away! But look who’s talking- we moved away didn’t we? But only for a little while! We pray that things will go well with you on the sale of the house, if that is what you really want and need to do. It is such a gorgeous place to live, I’m sure the right people will come along, and love it as you do. Are you still planning to live i a motor home? How will that work with your knee and hip problems, climbing in and out? I guess when you are set up permanently somewhere you’ll have a nice ramp.
Anyway, as we have found you can be happy anywhere if you have each other and the gospel, and have something of value to accomplish each day that brings joy into your life, or the life of others. Wonderful friends make life worthwhile, and of course family. Well I need to get going, or go back to bed and try to sleep a little more. Humm, I wonder which I will do? Lots of Love on your special day and always. Nancy P.S. Ron seems to be doing a little better today.

  29. Nyle and Sandi says:

Thanks for the birthday wishes. All my kids called and wished me condolences as well as my dear sister Nancy, sorry I missed the call, and Nina. Merlin came down a couple of days earlier when Lon and family were here.
We went fishing on the Dworshak Lake and had a good time. We caught Bass,Crappe,Trout and Sunfish. Brad had a great time.
Had a few looks at the house, but everyone seems to want the latest up todate for nothing and I just can,t give it away. If we don,t sell we will rent, which is kind of scary.
I fell on Merlins steps and did a real number. Been down for a week but seem to doing better. I may go to the doctor on monday to make sure no problems are there. At first I thought I broke my back, but probably just some bad bruises. Just getting old an not very quick on my feet any more.
We are enjoying following your mission so keep up the writing as I really so love the good work you do. Will see you later Love Sandi and Nyle

  30. Nyle and Sandi says:

    Ron and Nancy,

We enjoy following your mission and the good experiences you are having. It is so nice to see that sweet older lady come into the church. Too bad she had to wait so long, but I sometimes think it is better for them to be sure and be committed.

The weather has been hot as of late, in the 90,s but it does make the garden grow. I didn’t plant as much this yr. It looks pretty good for a change.

Still haven’t had any success at selling any property. Had some lookers but no offers, so I guess we may lease it out this winter. We drove by your place on the way to Montana and it looked like it was being taken care of ok. I know it worries you, but you do the best you can.

We send our love and prayers for you,

    Nyle and Sandi

  31. Nancy Gillins says:

Hello Sister Nancy Lee Andrews -

I don’t know if you got my e-mail in May or not, but I am your Visiting Teacher. Marta Rupp (Sean’s wife) was to send you the message in June, in Spanish, but when I talked to her yesterday, she said she got the letter to you half written, then got interrupted, and didn’t get back to it.

Anyway, July’s message is on strengthening the home and family. We are encouraged to have family prayer, read the scriptures, and hold Family Home Evening. I know that you do all those things, plus setting a good example for your family by serving a mission. You two are wonderful!

I was sorry to read that Elder Andrews had been ill. Dee had a bout with pneumonia in May and was on a course of antibiotics. He never seemed to truly get over it, occasionally spiking a fever in the evenings, and he coughed quite a bit and his chest felt tight. We went to a family reunion in Beaver, Utah, a week or so ago, and he got really sick, all over again. This time it seemed worse, though. His brother and a cousin gave him a belssing, and we took him to the emergency room the next morning. Pneumonia – still or again. I was impressed with the care he got there. They gave him a big (BIG) shot, then a Z-pak (a different antibiotic than he’d had the first time). Within three days, he felt better than he had in a couple of months. He still tires faster than he thinks he should, but no more fever, cough, or tight chest.

I had to laugh at your comment that you are always making treats for some occasion. I think the young missionaries must think that’s the reason senior missionaries are sent out! When we were on our mission in Colorado, I made the mistake of taking cookies to our first District meeting. Then I felt obligated to take a treat to every missionary meeting we attended after that. Actually, I loved doing it. Made me feel needed (^,^).

All is mostly well here – Dee says “Bishoping” is not all fun and games. I don’t know who and what all the problems are, but I do know that he receives a lot of calls from those who have needs of one kind or another, and he’s on the go constantly. Who knew? But I’m so thankful for his caring heart, and the way he honors his Priesthood and tries so hard at his calling. And he truly loves the members of the Ward.

I haven’t the foggiest idea when you will be home from your mission, but we are looking forward to seeing you again. Drop a line when you get a chance.

    Love you,
    Nancy Lee Gillins

  32. Nina K. Laird says:

    Happy Birthday Ron,
Hope you’re having a special day and no more problem with ailments. That’s not supposed to happen when your in the tropics! Can’t seem to stop thinking about Dad also today.
Nancy had a nice visit with Irene Weatherston. We were at Steve’s class reunion last week. They live in Logan now. I had printed off your blog as I hadn’t had time to read and enjoy it so I tore off the address printed at the bottom and gave it to her.It was such a little slip of paper hope she didn’t lose it. She was excited to email you. I’m so glad you take after Mom. Don’t change it’s a gift which we enjoy be able to read. I seem to go so blank. Love you, Nina K and Steve

  33. Nina, Thanks for writing. I have been terrible about writing lately. It just seems that there isn’t time enough in a day. At times I draw a blank too. Lately everytime I write a long letter to someone, it suddenly dissapears, and then I really feel like I wasted time! I think we had a virus in the computer. It seems better now, so I will see if this time it works right. That happened when I wrote to Irene. She did write to me. So thanks for giving her our blog site!. This week has been unbearably hot1 We don’t usually miss the air conditioning, but yesterday it was over 40 Centegrade, which translates to 104! That is the warmest that we have seen. Usually it is in the 80”s in the summer. At least the chapel has air conditioning. With our calling working with the youth center we are there a lot. But it was really sweltering to sleep last night. We don’t run the water heater much now to save money. The cool showers feel good- after the first shock! It’s not like well water. It’s been in storage tanks above ground for a while! We send our love. Thanks for thinking of us. Nancy

  34. Nyle and Sandi says:

    Dear Nancy and Ron,

Happy birthday to a special sister!!!! I hope you are going to have a nice day with all that goes along with it to make your day special. I,m here alone while Sandi makes a visit to her daughter and family in Homer Ak. I think she is missing me and about ready to come home. The weather only warms up into the 60,s instead of the 90,s down here.

We have about given up on the house selling this yr. and may lease it or rent it out. I hate to do it, but Sandi wants to get our of here so bad. We have had a lot of lookers since I took it away from the realtors but just can,t seem to get anyone to make a decision. Got one guy says he wants it but is waiting on his financial planner to give him the go ahead.

Think and pray for you every day, Hope the work is going well. Your going past half way pretty soon.

    Love you, Nyle and Sandi

  35. Nina K. Laird says:

Happy Birthday to you! I asked Steve at about 11pm last night that maybe you had already had it there. I don’t remember how it goes. Anyway enjoy your day in the tropics. We are finally getting a few days of summer!
    Love Nina K

  36. Hi Nina and Steve, Thanks for thinking of me! We are actually 7 hrs ahead of you here, 8 hrs ahead of Kooskia. So when we visit on Skype with family it is usually about 3 in the afternoon your time, or midnight there, when we are just getting up here! You haven’t been getting the big heat wave there huh? We’ve heard that the states have had unbearable heat recently though the early summer was very cool. Of course that may have been a lot farther south. It has been really pleasant here. We only had one really hot day. Today was tough. We went with our young adult group to do a service project, helping a sweet older lady in our branch, and her son try to clean up and fix up a summer cottage that they had used many years but has been abandoned for a log time now. We all worked hard cleaning, scraping old paint and pulling weeds, but the toughest part was all of the good food afterwards that they insisted on making for us, and then going to swim in some natural pools at the oceans edge afterwards to cool off! It’s a tough job but somebody has to do it, right? Afterwards we cleaned up and went to man the youth outreach center for a few more hours. Pretty quiet tonight though. We had a lot more there last night.
How are you both doing health wise? We hope that you are not having too much pain . Has Steve’s muscle pain problems improved, or gotten worse? This getting older is strange huh? When I think that we are older than our parents were when they moved over to Idaho, and then went on their mission, it is hard to believe! Inside I still feel 35, but then when I look in the mirror I can see that a lot of things have changed! Oh well. I hit the big 60 this year! It will save us some money when we have to take the ferry next time! Senior rates are a lot cheaper. Well I’d better get to bed. We love you. Did I hear that Nick and Adriana are back up there again? Lots of love, Nancy

Nancy and Ron, We, (a group of men) from Orofino, are to sing in Stake Conf. at the adult evening session. Well, I was asked to head it up since Sister Jackson is sick and can,t do it. Well today was the first practice and since I had to take Sandy to the hospital for problems, not sure whats causing them, anyway we had an overnight stay. Got more tests next week. Well, I had Merlin take the lead of the group for me. We are to sing, Our Saviors Love. He said since it is written for men and women it wasn,t possible to play the parts only for men since the accompaniment in the song books is written for women and men, and the parts would be to high for men on the treble cleft. How hard would it be to change it so the men could sing on the bass cleft and the pianist could play it that way. Give me some ideas if you could. Since you are such a sweet sister HELP!!!!!! Looking forward to your next update on the mission. Love you, Nyle and Sandi

Nancy and Ron, I realized that I have great resources in my Sister and Brother in law, but I also remembered that Judy is also a wonderful resource, so I also asked her for help. She said she would do so, so I am very grateful . I will wait for her help, so thank you, cause I know you would help me out if I couldn,t get her help. I know you understand what I,m saying. Love you, Nyle and Sandi

  39. Sherry Simler says:

Nancy, I was just reading that you have been thinking about the garden back home. I wouldn’t think about it too much because our gardens have been really awful this year. Even my Dad, who is a master gardener (ie farmer), has poor tomatoes. We have had such cool weather this summer and now we have rain and are looking like September. Everything is about 6 weeks behind what you would expect for being ripe and ready to pick and most things are not producing very well. The night temperatures have been 10 degrees below normal most of the summer so the vegetables have not grown like they usually do. You are lucky to be where you are and have all of those fresh vegs!

It sounds like you are doing a great job as missionaries. We always fall short of what we expect of ourselves!

    Love,
    Sherry

  40. Ron says:

Dear Nyle, sorry we didn’t see you had written. The men just sing an octave lower. Or you could sing in your falseto voice. Just kidding. We love and miss you both, haven’t had a good game of cards in over a year. The months are counting down now so we will be home soon. Wish you could be here in December. The beaches are fantastic, and we will think of you and the snow. love Ron
